Event Description

On September 15th, I will be running the Great North Run.

Goal: £300 ($514.30) Stretch Goal: If I make over £1000, I shall do it in a silly costume.

I have decided to take part in the Great North Run on September 15th, 2013. This is something I’ve kind of wanted to do in the last few years, maybe to help with my own health or just to mark it off my bucket list, who knows but I knew from the beginning I wanted to support a charity that meant something to myself and I have the best intentions to raise as much money as I can for a cause that I think it meaningful to me rather than just any other one for the sake of it.

I intend to raise £300+ for the international charity ‘Child’s Play’. I used to play a lot of rugby for a local town club until a knee injury which meant I couldn’t play, I still have this problem so I suspect this will be a very hard and difficult challenge for me, even during training.

“Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide.
Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids.
Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.”
You can find more information at their site:

All your support is really well appreciated and you have my eternal gratitude for any donations you feel able to make on this page. I will aim to keep you all entertained with maybe some (attempt) comedic videos and inevitably humorous training progress posts up to the event.

Two friends of mine are already taking part running as well, so if you could please also support them.
Jenn Hogg is supporting another great cause – Macmillan Cancer:
Hefina Williams in aid of the mental health charity - Mind:

Support so if you’re feeling particularly generous please support them both as well.
