4 days to go, $4.1 million raised in 2012!

2012 is drawing quickly to a close and it's been an incredible year - with four days left, the gaming community has picked up even more steam and raised $4.1 million dollars for children in hospitals around the world. Through gifts on Amazon.com, support of our incredible community events, Humble Bundle purchases, and generous donations from people around the world we'll be able to provide our 90 network hospitals with video games, books, toys and more. These donations make an amazing impact for children who are in a scary, painful situation. Jessica wrote us to share her story:

Like a lot of people, I was a kid in the hospital. Mine was for a major surgery on my chest. It was frightening and painful, and nobody wanted to explain anything to a 5-year old. The thing that changed me forever, though, wasn't the surgery, it was the game cart. My uncle had already put the whisper of King's Quest in my ear, so I was primed and ready to go when Mario rolled into my room and he quickly became my escape from the dark. Every time I had to get up for physical therapy, I knew the Nintendo would be my reward when I returned. I've been a gamer ever since. Now, I get to see the other side of the hospital room as a doctor, and watch my patients find the same window out of the hospital I found when I was small, and I know that Child's Play is a part of that where I work and in many other hospitals. Patients sometimes play with their parents, and sometimes play alone, but in my opinion, the best days are the days we get to play together. Thank you for helping to make that possible.
