Grants and Christmas in July!

The past couple of months have been very busy for Child’s Play. We distributed our quarter one and quarter two grants and started prepping for Christmas in July, where we send out our annual gift to our partner hospitals. We want to share with you how your donor dollars are helping support our mission.

Thanks to your generous support, we funded four new Game Tech Specialists positions during quarter one! We hope to one day see this position as a staple in the Child Life space. We are seeing more and more interest from children’s hospitals regarding this position which brings our dream closer to reality!

During quarter two your support allowed us to approve fourteen equipment grants! The specific equipment needs vary greatly from hospital to hospital. This year the grant requests included equipment for a Virtual Playroom, various VR equipment, Xbox Adaptive controllers, iPads, and numerous consoles and games. Our grant program allows children’s hospitals to request funds for equipment that meets their needs. Any non-profit children’s welfare facility can apply, it is not limited to only our partner hospitals.

Which brings us to our annual gift! Every year we send our partner hospitals a monetary gift to help support their Child Life program. Thanks to your support we are also able to send them a goody box full of toys and games. This year we had to do the assembly process a little differently but in the end, it all came together. The Child’s Play team has been working from home since the beginning of March, but on July 22nd we came together to assemble those gift boxes so they can make their way to children’s hospitals and hopefully brighten their day.
