Thank you so much to Child’s Play donors! We had a two-year patient from a small out of town community. The hospital was a very strange and unfamiliar place for him and his family. On top of this, he was on strict bed rest and had to stay in one position. Even though I tried to create a rapport so his mother could have a break, the little boy wouldn’t let his mother leave his side. This went on for a few days, while I kept slowly trying to introduce new distractions. We had received some wonderful toys and movies from Child’s Play, and these are what captured his interest! He started to play with me more and more, and let his mother leave the room. He was smiling and laughing, and “was himself” again. When he improved enough to be able to leave his room, he then felt comfortable and safe enough to go to the Playroom downstairs. Mom said, “I don’t know what we would’ve done without you and these amazing toys and movies. Thank you for helping us!”.
