Due to the generous donations through Child’s Play, we have received numerous sound spa machines. These sound machines are used for patients of all ages, from infants to teens. People may assume that a hospital setting is quiet, but it can be quite the contrary. A “sound bath” is created from various medical equipment alarms, overhead paging, families or staff talking in or outside the patient rooms, and of course, the sound of children crying. This is not a normal, familiar setting for children, therefore parents are really grateful when we can offer them a sound machine to buffer the environmental sounds. These machines produce sounds like ocean waves, running water, heartbeats, birds, crickets and more. This, in turn, helps reduce anxiety, promotes rest and relaxation, and overall helps patients and families cope with hospitalization. Thank you for your ongoing support!
